Files¶
The Files module is a built-in file manager for storing, organizing, and previewing documents within Gem Logic. Files can be uploaded standalone or attached to records like products, orders, contacts, and more.
Uploading files¶
Navigate to and drag-and-drop files onto the upload area, or click to browse. Multiple files can be uploaded at once (up to 200 MB per file).
You can also upload files directly from any detail page that has a Files card — the uploaded files are automatically linked to that record.
Folders¶
Organize your files into folders. Click New folder to create one. Folders can be nested inside other folders, and breadcrumb navigation shows your current location in the folder tree.
Move files into folders by dragging and dropping them onto a folder card, or by using the Move to folder action.
Rich text documents¶
Create documents directly in Gem Logic using the built-in text editor. Click New document to open the editor. Changes are saved automatically as you type.
Rich text documents support formatting, lists, tables, and other standard editing features.
File preview¶
Click on a file to open its detail page. Depending on the file type, Gem Logic shows:
Images: Displayed inline with a lightbox popup
PDFs: Embedded viewer
Text files: Rendered in a text viewer
Other files: Download link with a file type icon
The system recognizes 20+ file types (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, PowerPoint, images, archives, and more) and displays an appropriate icon and color for each.
Grid and table view¶
Switch between two view modes:
Grid view: Files and folders shown as cards with type-specific icons
Table view: Traditional table with columns for name, type, created date, and actions
Your preferred view mode is remembered across sessions.
Attached files¶
Many modules in Gem Logic include a Files card on their detail pages. Files uploaded there are linked to that specific record. This is available on:
Products
Orders (sales, quotes, repairs, creations, memos)
Contacts
Transactions
Stock in records
Customer purchases
Tasks and projects
Shipping labels
Star / favorite¶
Mark important files with a star for quick reference.
Filtering¶
Search files by name, folder name, or filename. Filter by the user who uploaded the file.
